A passion for smashing Smash Burgers.

Our Story

Smashies Burgers was built from a genuine love of incredible food and a passion for serving fresh, flavour-packed burgers that people keep coming back for.

Husband and wife duo, David and Rachel, have always been huge foodies. For David, owning a food business had always been a dream, while Rachel shared the same passion for quality food made with care. Together, they wanted to create something special - burgers made fresh, full of bold flavour, and served with pride every single time.

In 2024, that passion became reality when they found their very first food trailer. Taking a leap of faith, they invested their savings into building Smashies Burgers from the ground up.

After months of hard work preparing the trailer, Smashies Burgers officially launched in November 2024. From day one, the focus was simple - serve exceptional food, create memorable experiences, and never compromise on quality.

With the incredible support of local communities, Smashies quickly grew from a new food truck into a beloved local favourite, known for fresh ingredients, mouthwatering burgers, and a true passion for great food.

In 2026, Smashies became the Best Burger in New Zealand by winning the prestigious Burger Nation competition, taking home two major titles:
Best Meat Burger in New Zealand and Overall Supreme Winner - an achievement that reflects the dedication, heart, and flavour behind every burger they serve.

This is still only the beginning, and David and Rachel are excited to keep serving their community while growing the Smashies journey even further.

They have even more exciting plans ahead for Smashies, and can’t wait to share them with you.
